The First leg of the Champions League Semi-final of Real Madrid vs Manchester city ended with the Citizens winning 4-3. Manchester city were unable to stop Karim Benzema brilliance with his brace that kept Real Madrid firmly in the tie. Furthermore, the Frenchman has 41 goals for Real Madrid this season and is tipped to win the Ballon d' Or.
Additionally, Manchester city may regret not making the most of their earlier opportunities as they rained heavy on Real Madrid defense. They could of ended the tie if they finished those chances from Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez. However, Real Madrid have made good comebacks against Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea in the previous rounds where they fought back, it is good to keep that in mind for the second leg.
Finally, Real Madrid were sloppy and complacent and left spaces for Kevin De Bruyne to exploit. Bernardo Silva goal had everyone in shock who eventually won Man Of the Match. Although Man City were playing well, they did look vulnerable in defense with the injury of John Stones. As a result this allowed Real Madrid to exploit the flank. The ticking point of the match was when Real Madrid was awarded a penalty in the eightieth minute to score a beautiful Paneka penalty. This was a great semi-final to watch and shows us why the Champions League is one of the best competitions in the World.
